This project features a 15×27 composite deck built near Windsor Colorado. The height exceeded 30 inches above grade which required us to obtain a building permit. This deck utilizes Timbertech Terrain decking with hidden fasteners. The railing was built of Timbertech’s RadianceRail Express railing system. A unique customization was needed because of a lower story window well that was located under the deck. After discussing options with the homeowner, and deciding that a standard window well cover would not be attractive, we built a section of matching decking for the window well cover that was equipped with self-lifting hydraulics. This provided the fire escape required by the building department without compromising the overall appearance and functionality of the deck.
